The ASCEND is a nonprofit cost center neutral facility who primary objective is to provide the highest quality care possible in an manner which is affordable. ASCEND is committed to seeking out alternate mechanism of payment for services rendered to assure that this primary tenet is achieved. Some examples of how ASCEND will accomplish its goals of affordable and quality health care are as follows: Resident Contributions
All residents will be required to provide a monetary contribution to participate in the various programs. The fees for services will vary based on the level at which the individual resides. Another variable will be if the participant is a resident or non resident. The weekly programming will be sponsored by the local chapter of the various neurological diseases (i.e. Parkinson’s Foundation, Huntington’s Disease Society, or the MS Foundation/Society) The day program participants will have a reduced monetary contribution, with base financial contribution from the state chapters. Insurance Contributions
All residents have some form of medical or health insurance. It is the intent of ASCEND to access all third party funds as a mechanism to reduce out of pocket cost of the individual. Family Assistance
Another mechanism to reduce out of pocket cost of the individual with the progressive neurological disease, is to have a family member provide a service to assist ASCEND reduce its out of pocket cost. Although this is not a true source of income or revenue stream, it will ultimately reduce the need and cost for additional support personnel. Grants
ASCEND intends to seek out and exhaust all aspects of seed money for program development and will explore all avenues to obtain money or goods which will enable ASCEND to meet its mission without increasing the cost to the residents. Endowments
ASCEND intends to pursue obtaining funds which will accrue interest annually. ASCEND intends to constantly seek out new funds which would become part of the principle and ultimately increase the amount of interest generated annually. Research
ASCEND is committed to quality client centered and clinically relevant research projects. It is a primary belief at ASCEND that an environment which promotes an “I can” attitude will foster and enhance the individuals self esteem and self worth. This would be a major area of study does a positive mental attitude translate into an enhanced physical and a more functional individual. ASCEND believes that treatment approaches which prove to be beneficial should be disseminated and shared in all professional venues. It is ultimately the goal of ASCEND that not only people with progressive neurological diseases could benefit from the information unearthed but all people with disabilities should benefit as well. The clinicians and staff at ASCEND will be actively engaged in research as a mechanism to achieve the aforementioned objectives but as a mechanism to develop another revenue stream which will enable our overarching mission to be achieved. |
