About ASCEND

Currently care for people with progressive neurological disorders (i.e. Parkinson’s Disease, Huntington’s Disease, Multiple Sclerosis) has been marginally successful due to the sporadic nature of the therapeutic interventions. Clinicians treating persons with progressive neurological disease provide care for brief periods of time, the intervention may not be appropriate for the stage of the disease process, resulting in a decrease in the effectiveness and continuity of care.

ASCEND is a non profit organization which seeks to become a leader within the healthcare industry, by creating a paradigm shift in the overall care and therapeutic interventions for those individuals with progressive neurological diseases. ASCEND seeks to provide care throughout the progression of the disease, from diagnosis through the person’s death. ASCEND seeks to provide care and assist in a variety of ways to help the patient and their families cope with the challenges posed by the various stages of the disease process.

ASCEND believes that effective care begins with comprehensive training and education for all healthcare professionals. ASCEND strives to provide clinical interventions for those people with progressive neurological disease in conjunction with training for professional and paraprofessionals and students in various healthcare fields . ASCEND will also be conducting ongoing assessments and utilize that data to determine the appropriate intervention and type of therapeutic setting. ASCEND will compile that information in the form of relevant clinical research of the interventions in an effort to ascertain the effectiveness. ASCEND seeks to partner with various institutions of higher learning and community businesses to achieve it set objectives.
